Memorial Day Weekend

Friday after work, Alan, the kids, and I loaded up the car and headed to Longview, Texas to catch the train home to Pontiac.  It sounded like such a good idea when we were making the plans....and really it wasn't bad.  The train was sold out, and Alan couldn't sit with us, but he was only three rows back.  Sam loved the train, and Max did really well.  The one bad thing was that both ways the train was over an hour late getting to us and up to two hours late getting to our destinations.

Saturday, Tre', Taylor, Joey's family, and Kim's family were all able to meet at my parent's house.  It was really pretty neat having all but one of the grandkids gathered around my parent's table.  We had seven grandkids in the kitchen at one time!

``

Sunday, we went to Tre's graduation in Streator.  It's hard to imagine he is going to college next year!  Finally, today June 2nd, I got to run over to Sam's school to watch his pre-k graduation.  It was priceless to see his face when he saw me.  He was so happy!  I can't believe he will be in kindergarten next year.

Mother's Day weekend

Woke up this morning to my boys mowing the lawn.  Sam had so much fun with his Daddy.  He was yelling the whole time he was mowing.  It was pretty darn cute.

Easter weekend Sam got a bike from Grandma and Papa.  Then after that our weather has been horrible.  Well after mowing the lawn Sam got his bike out and tried. riding it.  He has been riding around in the house with no problems.  We get outside where he has a little more room and he can't make it go.  What a goober!  He did very gracefully tip over on his bike and laying on the ground he looked up at me and said "my body is so hurt!"  Obviously it really wasn't because I told him to pick up his bike and get back on and he did.  However, that was when he forgot how to peddle the bike forward.

Almost forgot!  I guess it is dental month here at the Wade household.  Last week Sam had his mouth open singing to his brother and I noticed he has got two rows of teeth.  My lovely child is getting his permanent teeth in behind his baby teeth.  One of the baby teeth is really wiggly.  I told him the tooth fairy will come and leave him money and maybe we can even get a movie for his room if those teeth come out.  Still nothing though.  Then last night while I was at Kroger Alan called to say while Max was gumming his thumb, he felt his first tooth has broken through!

I will keep every one updated on Facebook!

Food

Max just got done eating his first jar of baby food and he liked it.  He really like it.  He didn't make any bad faces or spit it out.  I started him on pears and it went very well.  There was really little to no mess at all.  He has been drinking his bottles very quickly just sucking them down.  Every night I give him a cereal bottle and he sucks those down in like ten minutes too.  So we took the leap to baby food tonight.  Where has my baby gone?  They grow up so quick!

Pears are yummy!

Friendship Bread

Anyone who has ever had Friendship Bread Knows this stuff is good.  A couple of years ago, yes really, we were on our way home to Illinois for our summer trip.  It was actually our trip home for my brothers wedding.  Alan was checking his facebook and saw one of his friends from Streator was baking Amish Friendship bread.  Jokingly I told him to tell her I wanted starter.  Well, needless to say, she was jumping at the chance to get rid of starter.  I have had it going ever since.  It will be two years this July.

I started researching this amazing stuff to find new and wonderful things to make with it.  I came across this wonderful site http://www.armchair.com/recipe/bake002.html Since then I have made many yummy creations.  Pancakes with the starter is my absolute favorite.  They are so amazing!  I have also made cherry cheesecake and brownies to name a couple.  The brownies did not live up to their name in my opinion, but the cheesecake was great.  The latest site I found is http://www.friendshipbreadkitchen.com/ I love this site as well.

I also learned that you can freeze the starter!  Anyone who deals with this stuff also knows you can get sick of feeding the starter all the time .  I simply throw it in the freezer and pull it out when I am craving it.  Last weekend I pulled it out and made pancakes.  Tonight I am trying an apple version.  It is in the oven now.  I am going to take it to school tomorrow for everyone to eat.  BUT can I make it without cutting into it and devouring it?  It smells so good......I don't know.......

It's a good thing it is 10:45.  I have got to go to bed.  Will have to wait until tomorrow to try this new creation.
